In cooperation with the Nineveh Environment Directorate, Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development participated in the field campaign carried out by the Directorate to monitor and inspect markets involved in the trade and sale of endangered birds and animals in the city of Mosul. This comes as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal hunting and protect biodiversity

In this context, the Director of the Nineveh Environment Directorate, Mr. Omar Khudr Jumaa Al-Shallawi, affirmed that field campaigns are continuous and ongoing to protect wild and migratory birds, ensure the conservation of endangered species, and hold violators accountable in accordance with applicable laws.

Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization emphasizes that protecting endangered birds and animals is a shared responsibility and requires the concerted efforts of government institutions, civil society organizations, and the local community. It also highlights the importance of continuing environmental awareness campaigns to promote a culture of biodiversity conservation in Nineveh.

As part of the “Reviving the Skies of Nineveh” campaign launched by Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development,
on 30/12/2025, four wild birds were released into their natural habitat (two Black Kites and two Eurasian Sparrowhawks).
The birds received the necessary care and underwent health checks at Vetland Veterinary Clinic
to ensure their readiness for release, in line with the principles of animal welfare and wildlife protection.
The organization emphasizes that biodiversity conservation is a shared societal responsibility,
and that the skies of Nineveh deserve to remain alive,
adorned with wings of freedom

No to Hunting Migratory and Wild Birds in Iraq Iraq is a key stopover for migratory birds and a natural habitat for many wild species, making them an essential part of the country’s biodiversity and environmental balance.The exposure of migratory and wild birds to unregulated hunting practices poses a direct threat to the natural environment and contributes to the decline of certain species, negatively affecting ecosystems and human well-being alike.Protecting birds and wildlife is a shared responsibility that requires raising environmental awareness, respecting applicable laws, and supporting efforts to preserve natural resources for future generations.Together, for an Iraq that safeguards its biodiversity and the sustainability of its natural resources

Capacity building for local civil society organizations

As part of the Local SPACE Alliance led by DCA, the Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development organized a training workshop for local organizations in Nineveh on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).
The workshop covered key M&E concepts, data collection tools, data quality assurance, indicator analysis, and reporting in line with humanitarian standards.
Representatives from several local organizations participated, providing an opportunity for experience exchange and strengthening institutional M&E capacities.
This activity falls within the EU-funded Local SPACE project, which aims to build the capacities of local organizations and enhance their role in improving the quality of humanitarian and development projects.

Capacity building for local civil society organizations

Within the framework of the Local SPACE Alliance, led by DCA, Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development organized a training workshop for local organizations in Nineveh Governorate on logistics skills and supply chain management.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the institutional capacities of organizations and enable their teams to develop a deeper understanding of logistics operations, including planning, procurement, inventory management, transportation, and proper documentation in accordance with humanitarian standards.
The workshop covered a set of key topics, most notably:
Principles of the humanitarian supply chain
Warehouse management and organization
Procurement mechanisms based on approved policies
Receipt and handover of materials and documentation
Preparation of logistics records and reports
Coordination between departments to ensure smooth operational workflow
The workshop also witnessed the participation of representatives from several active organizations in the governorate, providing an important space for interaction, knowledge exchange, and enhancing logistics practices within institutions.
These efforts come as part of the Alliance’s commitment to building the capacities of local organizations and enabling them to play an effective role in improving the quality of logistics operations and enhancing operational efficiency in humanitarian and development projects.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women and Girls

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development participated in the Job Fair organized by Al-Masalla Organization at Al-Hadbaa University on 27/11/2025.

The organization’s participation aimed to introduce its programs and initiatives in the fields of sustainable development, youth empowerment, and raising awareness on protection issues, in addition to creating a space for engagement with participants.

During the fair’s activities, the organization distributed awareness posters related to the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which aims to promote a culture of awareness and prevention, and to encourage the community to adopt practices rooted in respect for human rights. Orange badges were also distributed for attendees to wear as a symbol of solidarity with the global campaign against violence, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to the values of justice, protection, and equality.

Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development emphasizes that its participation in this event aligns with its vision to enhance the role of youth in community development, empower them with knowledge and awareness, and support national and international efforts aimed at reducing all forms of violence and discrimination.

The workshop also witnessed the participation of representatives from several active organizations in the governorate, providing an important space for interaction, experience exchange, and enhancing organizational practices.

These efforts come as part of the Alliance’s commitment to building the capacities of local organizations and enabling them to play a central role in leading development initiatives and improving the quality of services and projects delivered to the community.

For a Healthier and More Aware Community

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development carried out a field awareness activity to distribute printed brochures about early detection of breast cancer, as part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October) campaign.

This activity aims to raise health awareness among women and encourage them to perform regular self-examinations, emphasizing the importance of early detection for prevention and effective treatment.

Our organization believes that awareness is the first step toward a safe and healthy life, and we will continue our efforts to support women’s health in our community

Women between Resolution 1325 and Ballot Boxes

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance women’s presence and empower them to play an active role in society, Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization, in cooperation with Mawja Organization, organized a dialogue session on Monday, August 18, 2025, entitled:
Women between Resolution 1325 and Ballot Boxes.

The session aimed to highlight the importance of women’s participation in the political process and to emphasize their leadership role in peacebuilding and decision-making, in line with the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.

The dialogue featured discussions with a number of female candidates who shared their experiences on how they managed to overcome social barriers and prevailing traditions to reach influential positions in political life and actively contribute to decision-making. The session also addressed the challenges and opportunities facing Iraqi women in the political sphere, with a particular focus on strengthening both community and institutional support for their role.

This event reflects our commitment to fostering a culture of women’s participation in public life and encouraging women to actively engage in the electoral and political process, thereby contributing to the building of a more inclusive and just society

Media Campaign on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 – July 7, 2025

On July 7, 2025, Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization, in collaboration with Bethoor Al-Amal Organization and Al-Rafidain Gate Organization, carried out a social media awareness campaign to promote understanding of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which focuses on women, peace, and security.
The campaign reached 107 direct beneficiaries.

Campaign for the Release of 2,000 Wild Birds to Enhance Biodiversity in Nineveh

In coordination with Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA), Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development, in partnership with Al-Rafidain Gate Organization and Bethoor Al-Amal Organization, has launched the first initiative to release wild birds as part of a broader campaign aimed at rehabilitating wildlife in Nineveh Governorate.

The initial bird release took place in the Alqosh area, with the help of Hungarian Interchurch Aid at the Alqosh Permaculture site, where 60 wild quails were released into their natural habitat. This marks the first step in a larger plan to release 2,000 wild birds across various regions of Nineveh.

This initiative aims to enhance biodiversity, restore balance to local ecosystems, and support efforts to protect wildlife that has been affected by conflict and environmental changes in recent years

As part of our efforts to protect the environment and preserve biodiversity, the Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development announces the launch of a pioneering environmental campaign titled “Reviving the Skies of Nineveh,” which aims to release 2,000 wild birds into the wilderness and forests of Nineveh Governorate.

The campaign was launched on February 24, 2025.

Campaign Objectives:

1- Restore ecological balance and enhance biodiversity in the region.
2- Protect endangered species and rehabilitate natural habitats.
3- Raise environmental awareness about the importance of conserving and protecting wild birds.
4- Encourage the participation of civil society and environmental institutions in sustainability efforts.

A discussion session about climate change

The LWF Organization, in collaboration with the Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development, organized a dialogue session on Environmental Pollution, Biodiversity Protection, and Renewable Energy Support on November 27, 2024.

The session targeted universities, local and international organizations, and representatives of local governments, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of environmental issues and their crucial role in achieving sustainable development

During the session, the environmental challenges faced by local communities were discussed, along with showcasing successful initiatives to promote renewable energy and protect natural resources. A Pollution-Free Iraq and Support for Renewable Energy

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with Bethoor Al-Amal Organization and Space of Hope Organization, is pleased to announce the organization of a training workshop on environmental pollution and renewable energy on 18/09/2024. The workshop targeted a group of leading international organizations, including IRC, UPP, IOM, LWF, and ACF, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between international and local institutions in addressing environmental challenges.

This workshop is part of a series of ongoing training sessions, as part of the organization’s plan from 2023 to 2027, which aims to develop the capacities of workers in the humanitarian and development fields and to promote sustainable environmental solutions. The plan focuses particularly on raising awareness about the importance of renewable energy as a vital alternative to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to reducing environmental pollution.

Additionally, during the workshop, trees were distributed to the beneficiaries as part of the organization’s efforts to raise environmental awareness and increase green spaces, with the aim of contributing to improved air quality and mitigating the effects of climate change.

These efforts fall under the slogan:

“A Pollution-Free Iraq and Support for Renewable Energy.”

Through this slogan, Qimmat Al-Rafidain affirms its continued commitment to achieving environmental sustainability and working with local and international partners to build a green and healthy future for future generations

Campaign to Protect Iraq’s Environment and Enhance Biodiversity

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development launched a social media campaign on August 2, reaching 510 individuals, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of protecting Iraq’s environment and enhancing its biodiversity. The campaign focused on maintaining ecosystem balance, improving public health by protecting local plants and animals, and supporting local economies dependent on natural resources. It called on the community to participate in environmental initiatives, educate others, and take action to reduce pollution and protect natural habitats.

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development, in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights, held a training workshop entitled (The Digital Security Journey… Building Sustainable Cities and Communities)
Within Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is one of the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015

The workshop was held in the Baghdad Conference Hall in the city of Mosul, in the presence of Mr. Yasser Dhia Saeed, Director of the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights in Nineveh, the official responsible for the file of civil society organizations, and a number of employees of the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights.

The workshop was presented by Ms. Rana Hussam Al-Nuaimi, a certified trainer from the UN Human Rights Office in the field of digital security and personal account protection. It is worth noting that the workshop witnessed the participation of Mr. Marwan Hadi Ahmed, Director of the Human Rights Department in the Nineveh Governorate Office,
And the human rights activist, Yusra Abdel-Ghani Al-Rawi, Director of the Social Protection/Women’s Department, representatives of the Nineveh Education Directorate, a representative of the Family and Child Protection Department from Domestic Violence, representatives of the Family Guidance Center, the presence of a number of civil society organizations and international organizations, and the presence of a number of cadres. Threats to smartphones, such as malware, phishing, and data theft.
Practical tips for protecting smartphones, such as using strong passwords, updating software periodically, and avoiding opening suspicious links

Ways to combat electronic fraud, and mechanisms to protect personal information on the phone.
This workshop aims to enhance awareness and knowledge about smartphone security and provide participants with the necessary skills to present them to society and protect their phones.

Iraq free of environmental pollution

The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development, under the slogan (Iraq free of environmental pollution), launched a initiative to reduce the risks of environmental pollution on 27/12/2023. The organization targeted the entrances to the University of Mosul and a number of colleges, where it distributed and pasted posters at all the entrances to the university and a number of colleges at the University of Mosul. The tragedy of the Hamdaniya wedding in Baghdida

We are saddened after hearing painful news from the Al-Hamdaniya area in northeastern Nineveh Governorate, where a wedding tragedy occurred late Tuesday after a massive fire swept through the hall, killing more than 100 people and injuring hundreds. The Qimmat Al-Rafidain Organization for Sustainable Development visited the injured in hospitals, and we also visited the site of the tragic accident to stand alongside our brothers and families from the families of the victims and with the injured themselves

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families in the wake of this tragic incident, and we wish a speedy recovery to all those injured
